Two houses. Four generations. One family.
Hospitality runs in our family—and has done so for four generations.
At Halbturn Castle, Christoph Wieser runs the Knappenstöckl Hotel and Restaurant—a place known for warm hospitality, good food, and special encounters. Just five minutes away is the Alte Brauhaus in Frauenkirchen, run by his son Philipp Wieser. With fresh ideas, a genuine passion for gastronomy, and an eye toward the future, he shapes the Brauhaus into a place where tradition meets modern hospitality culture.
Father and son run two independent establishments united by the same values: warmth, quality, and the joy of bringing people together.
Our family’s roots extend far beyond Burgenland. Josef Jamek from Joching in the Wachau region—one of Austria’s most significant wine pioneers—is part of our family history. His commitment to quality, hospitality, and enjoyment continues to shape our philosophy to this day.
Whether it’s the Altes Brauhaus or Schloss Halbturn Knappenstöckl—each historic establishment has its own character, yet both are united by the same philosophy: guests should feel welcome from the very first moment.
And if a table happens to be unavailable at one of our restaurants, thanks to our close collaboration, we can often find a suitable alternative at one of our sister establishments. And for those who’d like to combine their visit with an overnight stay, Schloss Halbturn offers stylish rooms where you can relax and feel right at home.
