Fresco Hall at Halbturn palace

The former hunting lodge and summer residence of the Imperial family was built in 1711 by Lucas von Hildebrandt, one of the most important Austrian representatives of the late Baroque school of architecture. A special jewel of the palace is the ceiling fresco “Allegory of Time and Light”, which was executed in 1765 by Franz Anton Maulbertsch.

Halbturn palace hosts numerous exhibitions and concerts and qualifies as one of the top tourist attractions of the region. The extensive, more than one-hundred-year old, beautifully-developed garden landscapes are open to the public as a year-round oasis for those seeking relaxation.

Our region with the beautiful natural scenery of the nearby National Park Neusiedlersee and its unique bird- and wildlife can easily be explored by bike. Hotel Knappenstöckl at Halbturn palace is situated on the „Kulturradweg“ bike trail leading to both the neighbouring town Frauenkirchen, whose baroque basilica and convent are a popular place of pilgrimage, as well as to Mönchhof, with its lovingly decorated and detailed village museum.

We have some bikes on site. (Bike rental: € 10,00 per day). If a greater number or special bicycles are needed, we are happy to hire them for you!
